Why Bristol is a Great Place to Live, Work and Play
July 19, 2021 6:42 pmLocated 25 miles northwest of Concord right off of Interstate 93, Bristol has a little bit of everything that makes a small town living in New Hampshire great. Plenty of outdoor activities, a walkable downtown, great restaurants and close proximity to the mountains, Bristol is the perfect place to live, work and play.
Here are a few of our favorite ways to spend time in Bristol. We invite you to come for a visit and see for yourself.
Bristol is a foodie town
For a smaller town, the food offerings here are delicious! Whether it’s New England classics and fresh seafood you crave, or flavorful and authentic Mexican, Irish or Chinese cuisine, Bristol’s got you covered. There’s also coffee shops, ice cream and sweets, wine and beer makers in town too. For a small town, we’ve got plenty of great eats to choose from. Check out our post Great Places to Eat in Bristol, NH to learn more about our local restaurants.
Enjoy the outdoors year-round
How do you like to get outdoors? Chances are you’ll find it in Bristol. The town has invested in local parks and trails, making it a great spot for hiking and biking. The town is close to winter activities too, with three ski areas nearby, plus plenty of snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing opportunities. In fall, the scenic White Mountains wow locals. We’re right at the foothills of the Whites, so you’ll find picturesque views around just about every turn here.
Bristol’s lakes and rivers make us a top summer destination
When you live in Bristol, you get to enjoy the crystal clear waters of Newfound Lake (one of the cleanest in the world!) and the four rivers that flow through town. Whether you like to swim, fish, paddle or cruise in a motorboat, there’s plenty of fun to be had on the water. It’s why Bristol is one of the state’s most popular lake destinations.
A great way to experience Newfound Lake is at Wellington State Park, home of the largest freshwater swimming beaches in the New Hampshire State Park system. Besides swimming, there’s hiking trails, picnic areas (grills allowed!), volleyball and horseshoe courts. When the kids get restless, grab some ice cream at the snack shack or buy a souvenir to remember your perfect day.
Bristol is hiring
Bristol is home to many businesses large and small. Freudenberg is a global advanced manufacturing company with a plant in Bristol that’s currently hiring entry-level and more advanced career employees. With three nearby hospitals, there is ample opportunity in the healthcare industry, and local retailers and restaurants are always hiring. Being close to Plymouth State University and the state’s capital Concord provide further opportunities for work beyond Bristol’s borders. You can find work in nearly every industry, from construction to banking. Mention other professional companies that are hiring too? Such as Hiltz Construction, Newfound Family Housing, TD Bank/Fraklin Savings Bank, Collaborative Anesthesia Partners, Mid-State Health Center. See comments below, too.
Bristol is a great place to open a small business
We’re proud of our close-knit community, and that includes the business community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our local businesses came together to help each other. We also love to celebrate together with Fourth of July Fireworks, outdoor concerts in summer, and fall festivities.
Town government, which includes the town manager and Land Use Department, are here to help businesses that are new to town. Stop by or make an appointment to learn more about the process, or check out our Business Start-Up Guide. We’re more than happy to answer your questions.
